ONE VOICE FOR ALL KIDS FIGHTING CANCER
Our goal is to raise awareness and unify the childhood cancer community to speak up for kids more collaboratively. One Voice is about working together in our advocacy efforts. A broad-based collaboration. Kids fighting cancer need a voice. Survivors deserve a voice. Parents DEMAND a voice! Cancer kills more Australian children than all other diseases combined. Survival rates and long-term outcomes are completely unacceptable!
CureFest Australia will enable us to connect with and educate the general public. Securing a highly populated location creates an opportunity for the public and tourists to participate. We encourage everyone to come along and participate in our event.
WORKING TOWARDS THE SAME GOAL
The success of CureFest USA demonstrates the value in coordinating a national childhood cancer event. We have countless organisations and groups spread out across the country who have not historically worked together. Despite fantastic work being carried out, the lack of unity means our advocacy efforts are diffused.
CureFest Australia has the potential to play a key role in developing a more unified childhood cancer community. Our event has a strong focus on the voice of parents. A more collaborative approach to the childhood cancer problem would serve our children better.
SHARING THE SAME KEY MESSAGES
Improved outcomes for childhood cancer are 100% reliant on research. Sadly paediatric cancer research is inadequately funded in Australia and internationally. Increased survival rates have plateaued for nearly a decade. Even in the year 2016, there are certain ‘cancer types’ diagnosed only in kids that are Terminal On Diagnosis.
Australian kids deserve access to safer, less toxic treatments and the same clinical trials options available to patients in other countries. Insufficient childhood cancer research investment has a devastating impact on children’s lives. The situation is far from acceptable. Sharing the same key messages will strengthen our plight.
